I’ve always found meditation difficult because of my ever-wandering mind. It’s very hard for me to pay attention only to my breathing and live in that singular moment. I can only be in that state when I practice my musical instruments or when I used to give energy healing to people.
Around seven years ago, I was in financial distress because my freelance interpretation service became less solicited due to the declining number of French-speaking businessmen attending trade fairs in Hong Kong.
The situation was very worrisome for my little family who relied on my income to survive. So, during a catch-up call with a healer friend, I brought it up and mentioned that the money problem was affecting my mental health. Knowing I couldn’t meditate, he introduced me to Wayne Dyer’s Morning Meditation to help me deal with my stress. He said it might be easier for me to meditate by chanting.
Fully engaged in meditation for the first time
On a Sunday, following my conversation with my healer friend, I clicked on the YouTube link he sent me. He said it was a guided meditation without telling me that it was also for manifesting desires. As I followed the gently spoken guidance, I began to visualize that I had a job using my language skills in a position that I excelled in.
I am great at taking care of people and implementing people’s ideas with my resourcefulness and efficiency. So, I always thought that I would make an excellent personal assistant.
That afternoon, after my meditation/visualization/manifestation, however one likes to call it, I received a phone call from a recruiter from my previous work. This recruiter hardly spoke to me before when we worked together, and she never called me after I left that company two years before the call.
Soon after the initial polite talk, she told me that a French CEO was looking for a personal assistant who could speak Chinese, English, and French. She thought I was the perfect candidate for the position.
This sudden good news overwhelmed me a bit; I couldn’t believe my visualization was really going somewhere. I didn’t hesitate to say yes, especially after being told my expected salary would be matched.
An hour later, the recruiter called to tell me that an interview had been arranged for Tuesday.
Two Interviews and a job offer
On Tuesday, I went for an interview with the CEO’s two assistants; one was exiting, and I was to replace her. After having been approved by the CEO’s right-hand man, I moved on to meet with the CEO. I was very nervous and spoke a lot but kind of nothing at the same time.
As I walked out of the CEO’s office, I thought I failed the interview. Surprisingly, the recruiter told me that the CEO wanted to meet me again two days later for another interview.
I was elated that I got another opportunity. I told myself to be calm next time, and I did. I was hired on the spot.
A longing for an apartment with an outdoor space
Before having found my current home, I had always wanted to rent an apartment with a rooftop or a garden on my island. These apartments exist, but there are very few, and the rental is expensive.
Around six years ago, I decided to manifest my desire by visualizing myself being in a ground-floor apartment with a garden.
I listened to the same morning meditation video by Wayne Dyer.
I “saw” myself seeing the setting sun from the outdoor space that I was enjoying with my family.
I “saw” myself dancing tango on the terrace with my husband.
I “saw” myself smiling.
I “saw” my family’s smiling faces.
A few days later, I did something I had never done before: I looked at the ads posted on the windows of a real estate agency. I never bothered because I knew I wouldn’t be able to afford what I wanted.
However, my old lease was nearing its end. I gathered some courage and hope, and I approached those ads.
One of the ads stood out, and I nearly wanted to rub my eyes out of disbelief. It was for a ground-floor apartment with a large garden, approximately 100 square meters within my budget. If I renewed my old lease, I would have to pay the same rent.
Immediately, I walked into the agency and asked to visit the apartment. I visited it with my elder daughter. We both loved it. I then called my husband to get him to see the apartment as soon as he returned from work. We once missed a nice apartment with a rooftop because we couldn’t make the decision right away.
This particular one was wanted by many potential tenants. Fortunately, the landlord chose me because, supposedly, I have a good reputation on my island.
Parting words
I have manifested desires that haven’t happened yet or might not happen. However, I still believe in doing it and should do it more often. I’ve introduced this meditation to some friends, and miracles also happened to some of them almost immediately.
Here is Wayne Dyer’s visualization video. I would suggest you do some gratification first. Name five things that you are grateful for in life so that you set yourself in a positive mood. You must be first satisfied and happy with what you have before you manifest more. 😇
My gift for you, my readers
I sometimes do visualization without the video, and it also procured some “miracles.” Here’s my visualization step-by-step guide if you want to know how I do it.

Here’s an essay by

I'm usually pretty skeptical about that whole manifestation thing, but your story is hard to ignore. Like, the job offer coming right after you did that meditation? That's wild! And the apartment with the garden? A dream come true. Honestly, it makes me want to try it!
After reading this, I want to know more about how visualization works...
