One of our trademarks at Know Thyself, Heal Thyself has always been our engaging writing prompts. We've been releasing them since the beginning of our publication's existence, and they've consistently resonated with our audience. We want to continue this tradition on Substack, and, as many of you already know, we have already announced the new set of February prompts for personal essays in the subscriber chat.
These prompts are designed to spark inspiration and creativity, guiding you down the path of introspection and bringing your best writing to the forefront. If you're unsure about what we accept, you can check the prompted stories here (we have a separate tab on the newsletter's feed just for them).
What makes a prompted story powerful? The same criteria that makes a personal essay powerful: a captivating introduction, a compelling narrative arc, strong imagery, the exploration of key emotions and lessons learned, the ability to build tension and curiosity, an engaging and honest tone, vulnerability, and a powerful conclusion or call to action.
Our free subscribers prompts:
1. A time when you dodged a dangerous situation.
2. The hardest news you've had to deliver.
3. A skill you learned that taught you more than just the skill itself.
4. A time you felt empowered or vulnerable in relation to your sexuality.
5. A time you realized you had a problem with substance abuse/gambling/pornography.
