Love your writing style and how you nail the points you are making to the ground. I was chatting to my daughter the other day about this problem - women not always taken seriously or pushed back in the medical Q -she experienced it a lot lately - it makes me growl! Grrrrrr

Thanks so much as always, May 😍 I hate to hear that other women are also dismissed by their doctors so often. That's why it's so important to continue working toward equitable healthcare access for patients of all backgrounds!!

Another incredible piece, Veronica. That line about 'rigidly absorbing all this stress in our bodies' gave me chills. You put into words something I've felt but couldn't articulate. Thank you so much for sharing!

Your piece holds important information for all women, especially those advocating for their own health in a broken system.

I'm retired now but my profession was in the healing arts and the majority of my clients were women. I heard countless stories similar to yours Veronica.

I did my best to validate clients concerns and encouraged them to explore other possibilities when they felt shut down and unheard.

This is what it's come to in many cases. We are not second class citizens even though it appears that way sometimes when it comes to medicine.

Good on you for paving a path other women will follow. 👏㊩🙏🌞💎

Self-advocacy is SO hard as a survivor! Having health professionals you can trust can truly be life changing. It’s a team effort to make that level of care accessible to all and it sounds like you’ve definitely done your part as well ❤️‍🩹

Great story, Veronica. How true that we downplay our trauma and pain. You made me smile when you talked about brushing your teeth the wrong way and doing you back. I've done that! 🤭 Not funny at all, just the similarities. I bent over to fill the dogs water bowl once and couldn't walk for two weeks. FS. 🤦‍♀️ I try to keep moving, too. What else can we do. Love your writing. xx
