PXP, reading your piece made me feel seen. These suppressed truths and the terror of confronting them are not talked about enough. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks for sitting in the heat of it. For not running your first draft of cobbled thoughts through chatgpt like so many are doing in order to keep up with the grind.
It’s a tender thing to say but something i’ve discovered is that it’s well and good to not know what’s safe to write, because that not the thing to write anyway.
Don't think of writing as winning or losing. If you feel compelled to write, write.
All your feelings and thoughts are valid.
If this obsession and doubt persists or is getting in the way of living your life (as my anxiety once did), seek therapy with an expert psychiatrist or licensed social worker.
You are not alone. Seeking help is not shameful. It is essential to personal growth.
I’ve been working with a psychologist for nearly 11 years. It’s no longer constant, but I reach out when I need her to help me work through something. I think I’ll always grapple with doubt, some days louder than others. Writing is still new to me, not least because for so long I didn’t believe I was even allowed to try. Now that I do, there are moments where it feels like I’m inching slowly toward it, scared that the belief I can will suddenly vanish.
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. They truly mean a lot.
It won't....I know that feeling, but I've been writing for fun and profit for the past 40 yrs and am on google....so look me up if you'd like or email me diannemoritz@aol.com. I've edited a few picture books for fb friends, written book reviews, lots of pub essays, in print media, poetry in journals, and 5 books for kids. Feel free to ask me questions if need be. (I've been in therapy & it changed my life). I also post things here, but have very few followers. I do not charge $ for helping anyone. I taught in LA for many yrs.
I have a website but stopped writing there: diannemoriz.wordpress.com. Still, you'll find my first 2 kids books.
