OMG. Such a powerful rendering depicting a horrendous, heartbreaking event. I lived for 8 years with an alcoholic and have my share of harrowing tales but nothing, thank God, like this. Prayers for continued healing for the family.
Misbah, wow! The beginning with that suffocating atmosphere of inevitability, like a tragedy unfolding in slow motion... And then the mother's silent prayers, the children dreaming upstairs, oblivious - these details feel like tiny daggers, twisting at the heart. It's heartbreaking that addiction steals so many lives and destroys families.
My God. I felt every word. The words are vivid, the story is heartbreaking and the poetry is MASTERFUL. Yes, I needed to use CAPS. I was in a tug of war between feeling empathy and being a fan of your poetry by highlighting quotes in my head.. I guess both can dwell in the same place right? I like your signature italic font choice as well. Great work.

You're very welcome Misbah.
This one’s a gut-wrencher, Misbah. Those poor kids. But as May said, it’s indeed beautifully written.
Thank you so much, my sweet friend. Much Love! ❤
