Love how this whole piece is an encouragement to move from blaming our past to taking "flawed but responsible" control of our future. Powerful and so heartfelt!

Thank you so much! 💛 I love that you picked up on that …acknowledging our past without letting it define us is such a delicate balance, but it’s where real growth and freedom begin. I’m glad the piece resonated with you!

I have only just started understanding the effect of generational trauma on my life, but also what that trauma meant for the lives of my children.

In your article, this particularly struck me:

"It means being honest about what shaped you…

without using it as a lifelong permission slip."

Thank you for sharing from your healing journey!

Thank you so much for sharing this reflection. 💛 It’s such a powerful realization when we start to see not only how generational trauma has influenced us, but also how it ripples into the lives of those we love. I’m glad that line resonated & you’re exactly right, awareness doesn’t mean giving yourself a pass, it’s about acknowledging the past while choosing differently moving forward. Wishing you gentleness and grace as you continue exploring this journey with your children.

I feel so much of this. It amazes me how our younger lives and upbringings can still affect us so many years later.

Quite a powerful story. And heartfelt.

Thank you, Steve. I really appreciate you saying that. It’s powerful how much our early experiences can echo through the years. Writing this helped me connect a few patterns I hadn’t fully recognized before. I’m glad it resonated with you, too.

I really enjoyed reading about your journey and I understand known and unknown generational trauma on a personal level - this line really stood out, it's a truth i try to hold on to -

"That’s what I mean by being flawed but responsible"

We really do have to stand up and say - This is my life

- ty for sharing
