Open Talk, Brave Words
Sharing our writer's honest words and looking forward to September's chat
This month we won’t be having a newsletter as such, but rather I am featuring a few of the strongest pieces that KTHT have published since the start of the magazine.
But first I’ll be sharing a topic for you to reflect on. Then, in mid-September, we’ll come together for a community discussion. I’ll post the exact date in the chat closer to the time. If we get enough responses, we can collate into a collaboration post like this one from last month.
The Sound of Silence
We recently hosted a very popular commuinty chat on KTHT on the topic of silence, suggested by Taqaddus Qamar …
Discussion topic for September
Writers, how do you work with subjects that carry shame or fault on your part?
This obviously applies to when you are writing an essay or poem about a time in your life that is tainted with shame or guilt.
Here are some ways you may like to tackle the topic:
Do you write it straight from memory, or add some creative input?
How do you decide what to include or leave out?
Do you focus on feelings, actions, or consequences?
How do you protect yourself emotionally while being honest on the page? Perhaps you don’t tell the whole truth?
I will open the discussion question in our chat area in a few weeks so you have plenty of time to ponder.
Handpicked for courage and honesty
From the very start of our magazine back in January,
and I have been privileged to publish stories and poems from so many writers that explore truth and healing.Today I have handpicked 11 pieces from different author as a small showcase of the depth and beauty our contributors bring to Know Thyself Heal Thyself.
If you feel alone on your journey, then take a moment to read a few of them. You’ll find writers reflecting on their past and gathering the courage to move forward.
Many thanks to ALL who have become part of the KTHT community.

KTHT Guide for Writers and Readers
I came across KTHT on Medium in 2021 when looking for a space where writers experiences were respected by the magazine’s community. A safe space…
